... the museum. Fort Smith is on the Arkansas River which is quite wide with islands in the middle, much more impressive than the Mississippi in St. Louis. I followed the river 80 miles east and am camping at Old Post Road Army Corps campground just below the Dardanelle lock and dam. This campground is full as Lake Dardanelle (on the other side of the dam) is a most popular tourist recreation area. ... that Cindy take have a drink. A 41' 29,600 lb.. motor home with a vehicle behind it is quite an experience to drive.

... arriving at our campsite around 4:30. Hopefully this rain clears up soon. Update (7:50pm central time) Me and Nick have made it to Arkansas and to our campsite at Petit Jean State Forest. We get to State Park by 4pm just before the thunder storms start rolling in. It was very quiet in the camp. We where the only ones there, it felt erie. Since it was a cold, wet night we decide its the perfect time to hide away and watch a movie.

The next day Gordon wakes up with a slight head cold. Since it is still cold and raining on and off we decide its a good to do nothing day.

We decided to hike around the mountain on the rim trail, but due to inadequate trail markings and the fact that we didn't particularly care where we were walking, we ended up taking a connecting trail halfway down the mountain to see some streams and springs. Those were neat trails, but once we made it back up to the rim trail and set off down that a ways, I wished we had never been diverted because the views were great. We ...
