    Final Days in Portland

    ... and we just went from there. Small. Plates. Tasty. Yummy.

    The following day meant we had to come to terms with our shopping decisions as we all struggled to stuff our suitcases. We had time to visit the Old Port once again and have a last meal at Eventide, where we once again enjoyed fresh oysters and that most fabulous lobster roll on a steamed bun with browned butter.

    There couldn't be a better way to end this visit!

    We returned to Portland and a much-anticipated at Fore Street Restaurant. What a treat! "Locally sourced and crafted with love" is their slogan and they delivered! Named as one of the top 50 restaurants in the US by Gourmet magazine, Fore Street offers an urban rustic atmosphere.

    ... which we did. That earned us lunch at the Cockeyed Gull and made-in-Maine ice cream before boarding the late afternoon ferry back to Portland.

    ... came across a gelataria that was rated number 1 of all restaurants/cafes in Portland on TripAdvisor. Surprisingly for the early hour they were open, so we wandered in. The owner was a lovely Italian lady who we talked to for a while and it turned out she and her husband had moved from Milan to open the store - this stuff was the real deal and it was delicious!
