After I dropped Mark off at work, Caroline, Thomas and I hit the road towards Portland. Having several hours before their flight, we decided to take the scenic coastal Route 1. Along the way, they discovered their flights had yet again been cancelled and they needed to find alternate routes home which ended up cutting into much of our free time for the drive. We viewed the towns from the car windows and stopped only at the most important place: the L L Bean Outlet store in ...
We had a great nights sleep and breakfast and were off to see the colors in Vermont. We noticed on a calendar of events that there was going to be an Autumn Festival in Sugar Hill, Vermont which was on our way to our stop for the night. The colors are really wonderful as we were getting into more elevation. We stopped at many pullouts to take pictures. We were not disappointed on all the great colors. Got up at 5am after a bad Nights sleep. Caught the hotel shuttle to LAX and had an easy checkin for once. Good not to have to be under 23kgs anymore. We have up to 32 kgs now. All I can say about Duckfat is "holy duck fat fries." We finished dinner around 8:30 and looked for more entertainment in the quiet town. All movies started at 7:00 and the ...
This year we decided to break the trip up to avoid the horrific mid summer Saturday traffic and it worked! We left Sandy Hook at 9:15 ( after sneaking out on Smokey) and other than hitting a construction site on 495 where we lost 50 mins, the rest of the travel was trouble free. About 12:30, we stopped at the exit on 495 where there is a Cracker Barrel and went to a Longhorn restaurant for lunch. Great restaurant, food and service and would go again! We stopped at Kittery Trading post ...
