... Vietnam and until a week or two ago were pretty much treated as outcasts, until they were hit by fierce fires, triggered by lightning, which threatened the entire area.
These Vietnamese with incredible bravery waged in with spades, still in their flip flops, to fight the fires and by doing so won the respect of the locals.

Into California

Finally we cross the state line and enter California. We stop off to visit Lake Tahoe. Its ever so nice. Pristine emerald and blue water surrounded by pine trees. What a beautiful place.
These mountain roads are something else, with scenery that is just breathtaking. We dont get into Redding till after 7pm, and find this really nice RV park off the highway and out of town. Doesnt take long to set up the tent, while Gerry is already set up with her camper van.
