Day 64 (June 19) -- 7:14 am in Chetek, Wisconsin and the rain is just pelting down and the thunder sounds right overhead. We awoke to a very light rolling thunder and a few raindrops but the rising tone of the thunder and less time in between rolls warned us the storm was fast approaching ... subtle sheets of lightning and it's quite the storm we have over us right now. The ground already looks wet. Do love the sound of the rain on Harvey, though.
After dropping Jen & the kids off at the airport for their flight back to California. We drove around the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and checked out the first indoor mall in America. We were pleasantly surprised, even though it's old ...
... from a farmer's yard, we stopped. We found some fresh steelhead at Costco, (of course, it was enough for several meals.) and bought it for dinner. John cooked it on our little grill and the whole meal was delicious. After dinner, we walked down to Edna Lake at the Nisswa Resort to watch the sunset. It is still warm in the evenings in the Midwest, which makes them quite pleasant.

Last night we stayed at the Porcupine Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon, MI. Had a site right on Lake Superior. Arrived just before it stormed. Lots of people camping in tents and there we were sitting in our motor home nice and dry watching a movie and eating popcorn! Too bad for the rain, we were hoping to see the Northern Lights.
Covered 4 states today. Stopped in Memphis at Mud Island and took a walk down Beale street. Stopped by Graceland. Ran thru Mississippi. On to Huntsville. 305 miles today. Over 1400 miles so far. Highlights: "Walking in Memphis, walking with my feet 10 feet off of Beale" as the song goes. Some really cool stuff there. Reminds me of New Orleans...the smell anyway... Mississippi - State sign says "Birthplace of American Music". I'm guessing the first jug and washtub band was ...
