    Astoria has totally passed all expectations. Such a brief stay but Astoria was very beautiful and we met so many friendly locals. This morning woke to an amazing included breaky of fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and eggs. We chatted to an American couple who were astounded at the time we had taken off. "Four Months?     ... around the gardens surrounding the State Legislature Building in relative quiet and were able to spend time looking at the American perspective of the two world wars. Two world wars with very different dates to those we are brought up with in European history lessons. Just one of many elements which highlight the differences between two countries which, on the surface, have so much in common.

    ... to a fantastic couple of days. Had a wander down to the waters edge at low tide lots of crabs and other wild life thingies to look at.
