Spring, and particularly Fall, would be the seasons to travel the parkway because of the variety of trees, fields and lake. Unfortunately a few years ago areas along the Trace were hit by tornados, April 2011, that ripped up acres on the parkway devastating some of the woodlands.

... out as well as a District Superintendent and a couple other folks. But, the 10 that were there were definitely interested in seminary. I got a couple cards from it so it was pretty decent. After speaking with the coordinators at Millsaps it's apparent we need to spend some more time throughout Mississippi. There are several other schools/Wesley Foundations that are doing really well but just couldn't make the couple hours drive this evening.

... we now know to be the “new” capitol building, which has been the new building since 1903. This city is a mix of modern and old and some just terribly run down buildings. It is sad when your drive into a State Capitol is through a slummy area. This has been our experience several times. One would think that, since they draw visitors from all over, they would want to put on a pretty face.

We settled into our hotel at 5:30. Tomorrow, Montgomery, AL.

... the chaos of the party, my in-laws thought it might be time for a nap. So we left them to do some local shopping on our own. Now there is a pawn shop down the street, and I have looked for the name of it and can not find it. But I would have to say it is one of the more interesting pawn shops we have ever been to. Along with guns, tools and jewelry, they also carry purses, broaches, and antiques. I believe they would give the guys on Pawn Stars a run for their money. If you like ...
