        Things are going pretty well! It'll be nice to get away, I haven't traveled more than 500 miles from home since I returned from Japan in 2011.

        Sorry about writing about something so mundane for my first entry, but I suppose every trip has begun as a plan.

        11 days/10 nights in Japan!

        I finished my hotel reservations a few days ago, with split accommodations in Tokyo due to unexpected booking up on February 21st. A friend of mine who still lives out there informed me that the Tokyo Marathon is that day, so that's probably the reason. I lucked out ...

The deep, brilliant red Moenkopi sandstone of the Vermilion Cliffs contain many fossils of fish and early dinosaurs from the Triassic Period. A step north, the nearly unbroken line of the White Cliffs is composed of Jurassic sand dunes solidified into Navajo sandstone.
