      ... as a neighbor (we found out later that Cliff, the guy driving us around today, had been given three donkeys, kept one, found a home for the other, and is trying to re-home this last one).

      ... some more info, and discovered that it was a good 2 hr detour in addition to the 45 min walk, and the hole was indeed dry... Glad we checked before making our way there!! We explored a couple of other options, but all would have added like 4 hrs to our already long drive, so Dardanelle it was, and we picked up some drive through Sonic that boasted 24 different milkshake flavors including peanut butter and bacon.       ... are the top of a plateau because all the trees are gone and you just have these rolling hills of grass. Once you cross the Oklahoma border, you are back into the treeline.       ... in OK and very windy and it looks like it has the red clay underneath it. The nicest sites are the pull-throughs right next to the water sites C22-32 but those are first come. Reservations can be made for some of the sites. Tables to cut up your fish were at every site since this is a big fishing lake. Bath houses were not that clean but it was in the late afternoon ...
