We came into town yesterday late afternoon courtesy of our friend Swig and his mom. He lives local to the area so he will be enjoying some time back home and then hop back on trail. His mom was extremely friendly and invited us to their house thus evening to share in their BBQ party in honor ...

... Mt. Shasta including a full blown tour of what's-what and price inquiries at all the promising hotels. We ended up staying at the Alpine Lodge, one if the more hiker priced and quality establishments in town. By the time we checked in and set our bags down it was only 6:30 pm. We finally got to the ...

    ... quite pretty.

We made it to the Medford, OR, Costco at 7:30, but the store was already closed, so we couldn’t get the pizza we were wanting there. But the gas pumps were still open. Oregon has a law that the consumer can’t pump their own gas, so all gas stations have attendants that pump your gas for you. After the attendant pumped our gas for us, we asked him where a ...

... seeing more and more incredible scenery. We rounded a bend and BANG! There it was, Majestic Mt. Shasta, standing tall and snow capped. Like I said before, when your planning your routes you don't always think about the terrain and what it will offer up. I can't imagine living near that beautiful mountain and seeing it everyday.

The closer we got to Redding the prettier the scenery was. The views of the mountain, the wooded valleys and Lake Shasta were all ...
