... Townsend.
It really was a good time....

Even though we were there to see family and friends, we still got to see and do some new things, just to keep the spirit of the road trip alive. Of course when you think of California, you think of the Gold Rush, among many other things, but we both tried to become experts in panning for gold. I ended up scoring quite a bit of gold, but the majority ...
Newcastle, California, United States nicandjessica... labor clearing fallen trees and brush; learning the proper way to burn the cuttings. We has a fire from 9am - 8pm...the beer at the end of the day was well deserved. More then anything connecting with Ken and Terry was the most enjoyable...thanks.
Newcastle, California, United States pilgrimthomas... Anthony be so excited about his helicopter ride over Mt Rushmore, or Watching Andrew figure out that the big water slide was fun, are memories I will cherish. Was it easy? Not at all. Would I do it again? YOu bet. After all the time on the road and all the states we have seen, I have decided- like Dorothy- There is no place like home.
Yuba City, California, United States mernmb... got past Grass Valley. We arrived home at 3:15. Mark is exhausted from driving the winding construction delayed roads. The boys are glad to be home. It's funny to walk into our house and have so mch room again. I cleaned the refrigerator a bit so we could put the food in. The boys played, Mark went to get a newspaper and I put away a few things. After dinner and baths for all it's time to get some sleep. Our trip is finished.
Yuba City, California, United States mernmb... could probably last even longer, so far, it is the best way to vacation!
Posting just few pictures of our home for a month.
Our house was clean!!! Thank you Sawyer! What a wonderful surprise :-)
Cats were happy to see us (or me, mostly) and we are slowly getting back to normal after a Costco run.
Few favorites:
Grass Valley, California, United States aschiWell, we left around 11am - sooo, for almost 24 hours we did not see any wildlife but one deer and one chipmunk! Nevada was long! We decided to stop in Reno for late lunch/early dinner and had this great idea to show our girls the little white chapel we got married at - we did not go back to Reno since we eloped 12 yrs ago!
The little white chapel is GONE and some modern building is under construction in it's place - very sad to see it gone.
Roseville, California, United States newsuziWe are almost ready to go - have to make few more reservations, but, so far, we do have our trip outlined with places and dates. Looking forward to Yellowstone!
Now, I need to start planning and collecting all the stuff to bring on the road with us - I usually overpack, so this will be interesting :-)
Roseville, California, United States newsuzi... for things I need to do to officially pass my sabbatical. I checked off the first item today (with unexpectedly rigrous testing) when Jake and Andrew got their first drive time in on the infamous go kart. Andrew has a lot of potential for F1, but Jake is clearly headed for Baja racing !
Sacramento, California, United States dfbcaHello all, For those of you who haven't already filtered my emails into your junk box in protest at my verbosity, you join Teresa and me as the sun is setting over the desert mountains of Arizona. The splendour and subtlety of the fading light against the red and brown shades of the rock were already proving a tonic to the neon ostentation we'd left behind in Vegas. After an initial climb, Las Vegas to Grand Canyon is every inch the classic desert ...
