Left rainy Trier this morning very early, 7:30 and it was raining. We drove on the autobahn for about 5 hours to Baden-Baden. In rained most of the way.
Baden-Baden is known for its roman baths...yup, you guessed it, naked roman baths! We were told by our tour guide Andrea that it was "Textile free" bathing. You are not allowed to wear bathing suits...We decided as a group (Don, Cindy, Dar and I) that ...

Imagine our surprise on retutning to Gengenbach's main square we found it to be a check point for the Baiersbronn Classic Car Ralley.. We spent some time enjoying the beautiful cars that passed through.
Our final visit before returning to "Swallows Nest" our temporary home, was to visit a church and convent that we ...
... and whirring clocks. Every minute or so at least one errupted with either a high or low pitched "cuckoo" Having spent twenty minutes in the shop we decided that should we purchase one ,we would probably, rip the cuckoo out before we had had it a day. They tweet on every quarter as well as the hour!
However the experience did remind me of the old joke....

It's raining and we are still quite tired after yesterdays journey. So this morning we went to the old part of Gengenbach to look round and do some food shopping. There was a farmers market ,always interesting ,and from this one we bought some local apples and were tempted by local schnapps and Kirsch Wasser, but were very restrained. Geoff bought an umbrella of which he is very proud .(he paid 5 ...
... better than Munich by far and it had a lovely on site restaurant which we made use of that evening. We didn't pay the €50 bill that night due to no cash and they did not accept major cards just ****** maestro cards so we had an IOU ready to pay tomorrow. The weather looks mixed for tomorrow but better than the thunderstorms on Sunday, the park opens at 9am so alarm is on for 7am ready to get there for rope drop! Excited!!! Night ...
