Wednesday, May 27th : Today we toured the Sergeant Floyd River Museum, Sioux City, Iowa. Charles Floyd died on August 20, 1804 and is the first casualty from what was probably a burst appendix. He is the only fatality among the Corps of Discovery during the expedition. Also in this area the crew meets up with the Blackfoot Indian tribe. Two days all about driving and quite a bit of it in the rain. The 275 mile drive across Iowa, literally a straight line due west on Hwy 20, was under a big black shifting cloud changing from mist to rain to a few bright spots to heavy foreboding gloom again. Not at all conducive to taking photos let alone stopping anywhere other than for short get-out-and-walk-about-a-bit breaks at truck stops.
