... the rock that became known as Blowing Rock. We were surprised at how small the rock and the lookout actually were and also that we had to pay to wander the surrounds. In both NZ and Australia I am sure that this would be a free to see natural area.

From here we made our way up to the Blue Ridge Parkway which is a National Park road running along the ridge of the Great Smoky Mountains. This parkway road runs over 400 miles along the ridge crossing Virginia, North Carolina ...

  • Met up with Jim and Darlene, who were with us on the Panama Canal cruise my sister and I took last November for lunch. They are staying in Ashville, NC so half way was Spruce Pines. We found a great restaurant for lunch.....Mountain View. It certainly lived up to their name.
  • On the way back to Boone, I stopped at Linville Caverns.
  • Next adventure was a trip to West Jefferson to go to the Ashe County cheese factory and get some ...

... s a LOT of Butt Time! Hope you have enjoyed the Blog. We can now remember most of what we did. Lots of good memories, wish the weather had been more cooperative, wish we had seen more wildlife, but what we did find was a bunch of wonderful people. We were privileged to be able to attend Andy's awards presentation ceremonies today at Hudson Elementary School. It's always a proud moment to celebrate all the children's academic achievement awards, but especially so those of my grandchildren!
