... mix and talk with each other. Around 5pm the others left for home, with some having a 4 hour trip to get home. John then made pastry to make into noodles for tea. They were so good. After tea John prepared the dough to make bread for the morning. He mixes it and leaves it to rise overnight, then bakes it in the morning. It's really yummy. The usual setup otherwise, lots of blackboard space, maps of the Empire (all that red!) and slates/chalk for rough work as well as composition notebooks and dip pens (and inkwells in the desktops!) for finished stuff. Very different even from what you and I would have experienced. Though my parents could remember a lot of it.
