After lunch in Cherokee, on the other side of the Smokies, we drove into North Carolina, our 12th state this trip. Late afternoon, we made it to Lulu's brother's house just outside Charlotte and then had dinner with him and his wife Lisa in Charlotte.

After dinner, we drove on for another half hour to Kannapolis.

... spent several days reacquainting with an old Air Force room mate from Denver, CO. It had been over 40 years since we had seen each other. I miss him.

And so, we are days away from leaving and every single day of this second journey will be better and different and harder and more fun. And it is all because we came back here. We will miss our family more, miss our friends more and cherish every thing we are lucky enough to do.
