Today was a long drive up towards Vancouver, we planned to drive most of California State, and find accomodation close to the border of CA & Oregon. But a little Jet lag set in, and we were up at about 5 this morning, deciding to finish up and get going. We travelled the interstate 5 the whole way - since that is most direct, and quickest way. …
It was a long day of driving yesterday-- some 630 kms. and the most boring of all the travel we've done and I think I usually feel the same so often opt for an alternate to 99 or I5. We did get a little turned around going through Sacramento and ended up eastbound on the 80 somehow heading for Reno... maybe we should've continued but we didn't. Some would say it was the nagivator's fault ...
... I never rained, quite moist. After the stop the road opened up some and was not a constant progression of small towns. There were also some cool overlooks. Around 2 pm I saw some glimpses of blue sky.
I cut east towards crater lake. Just before 5pm the clouds began to clear and the sun came out. The route east was an excellent road with thick forests and followed the Umpqua river. I had a great surprise . . . ...
Willy & Trudy had to head up to Portland today. I'm riding up in the morning. Quiet day today apart from half a gallon of Bloody Marys before lunch.... a few more photos which were taken yesterday...
