    ... on and the official firework playlist started as did the spectacular display! We were treated to 30 minutes of some of the best fireworks we'd ever seen - exploding red hearts and shooting stars that fell all the way into the water were just some that we'd never seen before.

    ... outside the chateau before we left had already finished and they were packing away. It was still crowded though, on a day like today I suspect it will be packed from dawn til dusk.

    We dip our toes into the freezing waters (unsurprisingly so really given that it was ice not that long ago!) of Lake Louise which is refreshing and probably good for our feet after the pounding we had just given them.

    Next stop was Emerald Lake, which we knew little about but was apparently quite popular. And with good reason! We parked up and turned the corner from the car park to be confronted with another fairytale lake – almost iridescent blue, fringed by trees and meadow flowers and surrounded by mountains.     ... and back, leaving him with nearly 30 bites.

    Needless to say, we said our goodbyes to the lake and sat down to rest on a large rock slab with a great view of the surrounding peaks. We flew through our hike back down the mountain and went for a swim in the far warmer lake at the bottom.

    On our drive back, unfortunate for us, but fortunate for the forest, it started to rain. We ate a quick chili dinner in the car, and walked into our campsite just as the rain let ...
