Today we had an off day. We were supposed to work 7-10:30, but another couple who didn't have a job relieved us for our shift. It was really nice of them, but we also messed up. FMCA is serving breakfast each morning. We had decided last night that we would get up early and go into breakfast, so I set the alarm for 5:30. The alarm went off and we stayed in bed for a while. About 6 I got up and asked Bob if he wanted to ...

... to arrive early to help get things ready. By early I do mean early since we needed to be there by 5:30. So that meant getting up about 4 am. Anyway that is what we did. We arrived and started getting things ready for breakfast to be served at 7 am. Everything went well until one of the roasters we were using to warm biscuits (there is no oven available) decided to stop working. In our "advanced age" we have learned to adapt and so we did. Tomorrow begins our "work" schedule and we'll be sort of busy the rest of the week. When we're not working, we will be "shopping" with the vendors and attending some seminars. In our spare time, if any, we will be visiting with friends and maybe meeting new ...

... access to every line that could reach the ticket agents who, it might be added, were sitting there simply staring at the babel and chaos a few feet from them.

Nancy decided that she did not want to carry her small bag. Having navigated the self-servicing crowd, I reached an agent. She was most pleasant throughout the encounter. When we got to the question of how many bags we wanted to check, she smilingly informed me that I needed to go across the lobby to ...

        Departure date set

A travel blog entry by ccjon on Aug 03, 2010

Well, we are finally getting dates settled and prep work complete. I was trying to wrap a project here in Houston, then ride. What was suppose to have been completed by June 25th, is still not done, and now they tell me it will not be ready until October 1. Another two months of waiting. I can either twiddle my thumbs and get fat in Houston or go for an adventure ride to Alaska and Florida.

The original plans were to ride to Key West and start the Ultimate ...
