Unfortunately Mount St Helen was also covered in smoke from fires in the Mt Adam's area to the east. We could marvel at the information given at the centre but not at the view! We withdrew to a camp down the valley - Kid Valley and relaxed under the trees. The next day was clear! Easy decision - back up the valley for photo shots!

On Tuesday, 9/2 is when we visited Mount Rainier National Park. It was about a 90 minute ride east and so well worth the ride. Mount Rainier was established in 1899 as the nations fifth national park. This mountain wonderland is famous for its dense forests, dazzling wildflower meadows and glaciers. The fresh smell of the trees and the intense green of the magnificent trees within this park ...
