Kael and Chloe understand the set up/take down process much better now, leaving us in relative peace to get the chores done. Michele and I are also getting better at it to after all of our practice over the trip.

The only problem is that the mosquitoes are out in droves ay dusk, forcing us to put on long-sleeves and jeans. As I BBQ dinner, there are no less than five of them ...

... to help (they didn't offer, mind you), most of the tasks are too difficult for their little muscles and minds. We try to get them involved by asking them to observe so they can be of help later, but that tactic is about as effective as telling Chloe not to go in the water because she'll be cold when she gets out.

... this particular trail before. The Ape Mountain trail is 11.5 miles round trip with an 1300' elevation gain. For the record the 1300' does not include several descents you need to hike out of. I think Larry calculated 1800' cumulative elevation gain and I wont argue with him.
Overall there is nothing bad to be said about this trip! The weather was beautiful, the trail is well maintained and the few other users ...

Today we visited Mount Saint Helens National Monument. Mount St. Helens is important because it is the last active volcano in the US. Mt.
