Well, it really does feel good to be mostly caught up on my blogs. I am sorry you all have had to wait so long for the pics etc form the Canary Islands. It has been hectic, but in the best way possible. I have to say that I am so thankful to UoL for budgeting in a bit of money for travel outside of France, because this was an experience of a lifetime. ... El Ray as we drove up to the volcanic summit of the island called El Teide. It was a pretty fun road full of switchbacks that took us through every conceivable landscape from rainforest to snow to pine trees to mists so thick you couldn't see ten feet down the road. ... The islands are getting ready for Carnaval which starts this weekend. We found the main shopping mall areas with many shops and restaurants, and yes, weird people! The streets are narrow and colorful and any open area had sidewalk tables for coffee and sweets. Stages were under construction in any open areas for the bands that would play throughout the weekend.
