... symbol of Kusatsu. Here, hot water from the spring's origin gushes down wooden channels made from five-centimeter thick pinewood still containing large amounts of resin. Fine quality pinewood or Japanese cypress rich in resin is the optimum choice of material to continuously withstand acidic spring water. As it turns out we are the only people in the Japanese restaurant, the first course of our Kaiseki dinner is already waiting for us on our table. One of the courses is pork Shabu-Shabu, quite tasty! The temple and shrines were beautiful but it was pretty cold walking around. Another train for about 40 minutes and we arrived at Shiga Kogen where we are staying at a beautiful ryokan with our own private onsen bath outside in the snow. Time for some rest and ...

... I guess you could say. A lot of older men got drunk and one fell on Talia and grabbed her hair, Talia got really scared but dealt with the problem well by chopping his arm to make him let go. But Talia and I left the Fire Festival early with the school group and while we were at home playing games and having fun with the school group mum and dad stayed to watch the fire festival. When they got back we all went to bed. Overall it was the best day in ...
