Went to Fo Guang Shan, largest Buddhist monastery. Very large, with 8 pagodas (each dedicated to something, with different topical exhibits) along the central lane leading to the main building that has various mini-museums and shrines. At each point we could interact with the monks and nuns who told us about the monastery. Behind the main building was a ...

Dinner was at a famous place known for its DanZi noodles which turned out to be quite good! We finished dinner before 6:30 and headed back to the hotel. We said goodbye to our guide. Tomorrow we will leave TaiNan and head to the Sun and Moon Lake area. The same driver will take us there. We need to leave at 9am.

... Confucian temple, it's claim to fame being it was the first school of Confucianism in Taiwan. Built in 1665 some of the buildings have certainly been repaired and renovated but the whole area exudes an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. In contrast to this were a group of Taiwanese ladies who strolled in with their prams full of... yapping tiny dogs!! They then proceeded to have an impromptu doggy photo-shoot, with one woman shouting and waving her arms to attract the pooches ...
