    ... then told the bus driver to tell me where to get off, while I just stood and looked stupid, as normal!) on changing bus in Taichung I was lead to the bus stop by a random lady with her daughter who again told me which bus, where the stop was and then proceeded to wait with me for twenty minutes to again tell the driver where I needed to go, she wasn't even getting the same bus but helped none the less and waved me off with a smile! Just another day in Taiwan!! Thank you Taiwan ...

    ... as Ming, Qing, Japanese and Kuomintang (China's Nationalist Party) and had a great feel to the place.

    In the evening, we went back to the vegan restaurant and didn't order stinky tofu. However, someone else did and it really stank. Luckily, he ate it quickly and that helped the smell to dissipate. We could still smell it when we got back to the hotel. It's truly something not to be forgotten!

    ... Buddha. One of the three Buddha tooth relics are housed here and worshiped by the locals. Taiwanese Buddhists are the "orthodox" version (Mahayana), where all desires are given up- meat, alcohol, marriage etc, and you devote your life to though and helping the community.     ... at the hotel was surprisingly good with many local dishes and fruits. Then it's an 8 km one way walk to the other old fort located at the original port for Taiwan. We managed to almost lost our guide book which would be catastrophic. The ruins of the original Dutch fort was quite interesting.
