She didn't finish much of her meal and even managed to spit some spicy saliva over my face so when we got back to the hostel she had a plate of chips. In the evening we had another look at the Bell tower as Eddie said it's pretty awesome when it's lit up at night and it was! Had a quick look at the Drum Tower too before going back again for a night cap and bed time. On Wednesday we went to see the Terracotta ...

I had forgotten that there was a major convention being held at the hotel today and the taxi queue was about a block long. Fortunately there was only one couple ahead of us in the residents line so we walked up and showed our room key. Funny that just a few weeks ago I was loathe to the idea of getting special treatment in the taxi line but that day I was cutting ahead of a lot of locals, ...

Happy May Day - May 1st is China's Labor Day - it's a three day weekend, the holiday was on Sunday but we also got the 2nd off work. Today its rainy and hazy so I'm enjoying a day at home to catch up on things - enjoying the peace and solitude of my own apartment after the day in Shanghai yesterday - by the end of the day I had my fill of crowds, shoving in lines - and navigating my way ...
