... and a night enjoying the big walls of the canyon and doing some hiking in the river, a great enjoyable way to spend a hot day. If you ever get the chance, the Narrows is a must experience. Rent some shoes and be prepared to be wet pretty much all the way up to your chin.

Off to Durango, CO. A cool town, but not as cool as Mesa Verde. Abandonded cliff dwellings near the four corners area. All I can say is WOW. most ...

Ice Lake

This weekend Allison and I hiked to Ice Lake near Silverton, Colorado, for her birthday weekend extravaganza. I had read about the hike to Ice Lake a while back, and then I heard some co-workers raving about it this week. So at the last minute, we decided to go. We left for Durango early Saturday morning, and after a quick stop at the Durango Farmers Market for some coffee and snacks, we secured a campsite at our favorite ...

Shawn Harkey's Bachelor Party

So I just get back from Colorado where I hung out with old friends for a buddy's bachelor party.

It was an amazing trip. We were very blessed to have a free condo to stay in which was plenty big enough for the 7 of us. A special thanks to the Jays for letting us stay there.

We did a ...

interesting and sad. I loved seeing the Indian head dresses made of
feathers and playing in a Tipi (teepee). I also loved the cradle
boards that the babies were strapped to for travel on their mothers
back. They had beautiful bead work to determine if the baby was a boy
or girl. The boys had geometric shapes and the girls flowers and
such. I was sad to see how the early US government broke their
promise to the Indians 4 times in various ...

... br>There, Joe. There's your mention :)

Oh, Joe. I miss you and love you too! Now turn that frown upside down! :)

Before I go, I wanted to share some more great news. My boyfriend's grandparents are coming to Chino Valley on August 24 to see our show! It will be great to know people in the audience! I'm excited to see them on Monday night!

Well, that's all for me! Time to go to bed :) Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Total Exhaustion

... have come to the Bar D to experience their chuckwagon dinners. We were served BBQ beef, brown beans, homemade applesauce, a baked potato and spice cake on tin plates. It was delicious! After dinner, 4 extremely talented musicians performed Western songs for us. They were fabulous! It was so much fun :)

It did not slip my mind - and I know that she is thinking that it did - but my awesome family had another surprise in store for me last week ...

... he lost his phone at 3 in the morning, and was going to take off on the bus the next morning. He asked me if I would give him a ride to where he thought he left his phone, in exchange for $20. I drove him to the mall, and he actually found his phone on the ground! I made him keep his $20. Did some shopping, and bought a new pair of jeans. While hiking at Arches, my old ones split open. :) I witnessed a war protest in town, which was fun to observe.

... figured it out. And when he figured it out, boy was he excited. He could hardly wait- but then again, neither could the other 300 kids and their parents. The train had ten carriages with at least 45-50 seats per carriage. And they really played up the events in the book (and the movie). The train rolled out of the station bound for the North Pole, the conductor wandered through and punched the tickets (just like the movie), they served hot chocolate ...

The Ending

Coming back to America didn't start well for me. It was 19 hours in a plane, and 40-some hours total from Easter Island to Durango, with plane changes in Santiago, Atlanta and Denver. I cannot sleep on planes. Half of Dad's and my checked bags didn't make it past Atlanta, and the shuttle driver who took us home overcharged us and refused to help us with our heavy, overloaded luggage. It was noon. I took a three hour nap and tried to make a little of the day. But it was hard to ...
