... and I met her other grandfather who has aged very well. We enjoyed good food (as always) and Anna’s aunt bought us gifts, which were traditional Tibetan necklaces that her husband had brought all the way from Tibet following his recent motorcycle adventure there. They came in male and female form and I donned mine politely, although Anna’s parents understood that I wasn’t going to make a habit of wearing it.

And onto Wuyuan. A small town by Chinese standards - about 300,000 people. Its about 400km south east of Wuhan, or should I say a six hour bus ride. It's set in a hilly area of China and was my chance to see a bit of the countryside as scattered around the city are lots of old Huizhou villages where the traditional rural life still goes on. Not a lot to say about Wuhan really. Another big city in China - home to about 5 million. It's on the Yangtze and its a BIG river here. Must be at least one km across, maybe more. ... The locals often don't know what street they are in let alone the street you want. And can they read a map? No way. Since I have been here it has rained off and on - more on than off. Rainy season. Its not heavy but wet all the same. And it's hot so the humidity is high making it all a little uncomfortable. Hopefully it clears and I can see the city ( another one with 4-5 million people) before its time to head further ...
