Getting up at 3:00 am is not nice, but the highway to the airport was empty. Checking in with Air Berlin was a new experience, but not quite positively. All information that we had keyed in for the online check in was irrelevant, we had to give them the complete information again. ... forgotten to buy a lighter. So back to Altona station newsagents to get one. After our cup of tea we have a brief rest before we have to leave for our visit to Miniatur Wonderland. It takes about an hour to get there by a more direct route and we go straight in.

This is a truly amazing attraction. The details of the models are incredible with lights and sounds. Every 15 minutes the sun sets and you see everything as though it were night time, then ...

... a whole basket of fresh fruit for 10 Euros, to leather bags, fresh bread, cheese and of course fish. We started off the day with a few fisch brötchen (fish rolls), while I tried the Pferde Bockwurst (horse meat hot dog), which tasted like any other.

We worked our way through the crowd where we got a glimpse of local legend Aaler Dieter, who even had a promo spot on TV for the local tourism. He was a quite animated chap, who makes his living ...
