It all kicks off today!

... all of the people turn up that did on Thursday, made me feel very loved and I can't wait to see you all again and tell you of all the things I get up to. You all mean the world to me and if any of you get the cash or motivation to escape lovely England then let me know and I'll make sure I'm at the airport to meet you!

So now until I arrive down under I bid you adieu

All set for South Africa

Started way back in Feb of this year when 6 of us all agreed to go to richard's and johanee's wedding and at the same time visit South Afica and take in England against SA at cricket. Sadly having returned to SA Johanee decided to call of the wedding in September.
We decided to press ahead and Johanee ...

Sat-Nav says No!!

... 4 had suddenly gone quiet to be replaced with an autonomous voice that sounded like the voice of Hal from 2001:

“Pardon” The sat-nav exclaimed nonchalantly.

“Christ!! 221; screamed Shaun again..

“Pardon” the sat-nav replied; “voice command not recognised”, and we burst into a fit of laughter.

I’m guessing people in South America don’t have these problems.

Tired...

... Mumbai to Trivandrum in India on 3 years ago. It’s been pouring down with rain up until this point and suddenly the sun bursts out from behind the turgid grey wall of English gloom. I begin to wonder what mad journeys we’ll be having in Bolivia and Peru, and the people we’ll meet on our way through South and Central America.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

... then comes back to pick us up for dinner and then returns us to the accommodations. He has been a fantastic guide and we are thrilled to have found him.

Tomorrow we are touring the Yorkshire Dales, another beautiful place in England. Today I am leaving another T Shirt for "Charity"! What a wonderful way to lighten my suitcase load so I can fill it with purchases from here.

Oh! Don't pinch my seat!

... Dr. Greene, who some people have said remind them of Professor Snape from Harry Potter looked at me and said, "Oh! Don't pinch my seat love!" (which in British means, Don't steal my seat....love.) Mystified or intimidated, I still haven't decided which, I pulled my bag away from the seat and slowly sat down in mine. For the rest of the lecture I was then ...

very short but pretty pictures

It's a lovely town and everyone comes to shop on a sunny Saturday. They all have their favorite places and the river is so pretty but I'm tired of writing about churches for a little while.
Look at Philip's pictures of this gorgeous, full on English Gothic perfection.

... and amongst the others there were the super-cool Jim and Ros Gower . Saturday 3rd saw us in Spalding with Stu and Linda Asher at the 50th Tulip parade, not terribly interesting but a people sized event with a carnival queen, unlike the Juggernaut train we have at Cleethorpes.Stu and I met on a science course at Boston College 40 years ago. Also recently I've found through some research two other course members ...

Lincoln, England

... So we were lucky because when Caro and Juergen came to Sabines 28th Birthday to visit us in Lincoln, we could visit the exhibition in the Cathedral. At that day they also had no entrance fee because it was a Sunday. We also heard they are now selling stones of the Cathedral to raise money. It is the same principle as "buying stars", you get a paper with the name and location of the stone but you are never actually allowed to take it away - of course ...
