The Lodge is very comfortable with friendly service

We had a 2 bedroom unit in the Lodge, plenty of room. This particular unit could have slept 6 extremely comfortably, and 8 if you don't mind pulling out the living room sofa. Everything was very comfortable, beds were great, and kitchen was well-equipped. All the staff were great - including the shuttle bus drivers. Although the unit is close to the gondola, there is no reason to get tired carrying your skis for 250 yards. The shuttle makes a loop every 10 minutes, so it is very convenient. The heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center were nice, but very standard. We didn't take advantage of any of the spa services, so cannot comment on that.

      Eagle Ridge Lodge

Motivated to write a brief review of Eagle Ridge Lodge/Townhomes since I spent so much time prior to our trip checking out various Steamboat lodging options. Feb. 9-13 trip, 4 adults and 2 kids, 9 yr old, 11 yr old. Overall experience was top notch! We rented one of the two bedroom units overlooking the pool, sufficient space for all. Hot tub and pool great. Distance from gondola just perfect, less than a 5 minute shuttle ride. Shuttle service outstanding, no need to rent a car. All and all, excellent value and terrific location, would definitely plan on another visit.

Beats the Big Hotels by a Mile!

Feb 2006--Went for a conference at the Steamboat Grand. Grand has so-so reviews so opted for a studio at Eagle Ridge. We had a great time, and we're really glad we chose Eagle Ridge. Two minor negatives:

The studio (#313 I believe) view was into the portico. However, being winter, we were hardly ever in our room except after dark, so there wasn't much to see. Also, could have used more closet and drawer space. There were actually 3 empty drawers in the kitchen, so we made do nicely enough.

The room was spacious for a studio and very well appointed. Spotless, too. Complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch. The staff is extremely helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. The shuttles were fantastic--getting to/from the gondola was very easy (a two-minute ride, but you don't want to walk it with skis). The ski lockers are right by the hotel entrance where the shuttle meets you. The driver hops out and helps you with your skis, etc. They even have coffee inside and outside for you (not that you'll have time to drink it; the shuttles are so frequent!). The pool is well maintained (a bit cool for some), and the fitness center is well-equipped. When I'm back at Steamboat, I'll definitely stay at Eagle Ridge again (though I'll probably pop for the 1 bdrm).

3rd year in a row - great stay

For the third year in a row, we stayed at Eagleridge and loved it. When we got in late this year, the unit we were given was a different one than in previous years. Our wives really wanted one of our old units, so the staff helped us find one as we were checking in, making the change on the fly. Great customer service, and a new wine-and-cheese event on fridays (another huge hit with the ladies). Views were outstanding, short walk to the gondola/The Market/Slopeside Grill, hot tub inviting, and unit was excellent. We even opted to stay in one night and cook, just to take full advantage of the room! We have been fortunate to have visited alot of lodges in our short time on this planet, and have to say that this is one of our favorites. Highly recommended!

      Wonderful Group Vacation

We could not have asked for a better long weekend ski vacation in Steamboat. Having never been there before, I was a bit timid about making lodging accommodations for a group of 7 adults and 2 children. We could not have been more pleased with Eagle Ridge. We stayed in a 4 bedroom/3.5 bath townhouse - the top floor had 2 bedrooms each with their own bathroom and flat screen tvs, the main floor had a half bath, with the kitchen and living room area, and the bottom floor had two bedrooms with a separate full bathroom and little play area with a TV.

The kitchen was top of the line complete with everything we needed to cook breakfast and dinner. The view out the balcony was wonderful. Wished we had a grill, but did just fine without one.

There was no need to rent a car. We took Alpine taxi to and from the airport and used the various transportation options to get around town and around the ski village. The Eagle Ridge shuttle was wonderful - we just called it came right to our door and took us anywhere we wanted to go around the village. The downtown shuttle is on an hourly schedule and makes stops at the city market center (grocery store, walmart, liquor store) and then into town. We actually took the Steamboat city bus back from town one night which was easy to use as well.

We rented our skis and boots from Terry's Sports - its right by Slope Side restaurant and they let you store your skis and poles overnight so you don't have to lug them around.

One thing to note, although the description says 250 yards to the gondola, it's definitely not a straight shot. We took the shuttle there and back each time and I wouldn't go there expecting to walk back and forth from the ski area to the house.

We would definitely go back and stay at Eagle Ridge again!

      Eagle Ridge Lodge Great

Just stayed here for a week at Christmas with our teens in the lodge and had a great time. Very nice western decor, new, and convenient. We had a 2br+den,nice kitchen,w&d,fp,and deck facing the mountain. Private shuttle to the slopes excellent. Just once an hour into town though. Pool and spa seemed to be in use all the time - lots of kids in particular; nice workout facilities, though the steam room never worked. Would definitely stay there again. Great, friendly lodge staff as well. It was just as featured.

      Best place we've ever stayed!

Wow! We've stayed a lot of places and nothing compares to Eagleridge. We came in the summer for a baseball tournament our 10-year old son was involved in. It happened to be the hottest week (ever?) on record for Steamboat, and even without AC the condo stayed cool enough day and night with the ceiling fans and floor fans. We slept with our windows open and watched distant thunder storms. It was very relaxing!

The 2-bedroom condo was decorated impeccably and everything seemed new. There were LOTS of hooks and cubbies which made it easy to stay organized. We had a top floor which overlooked the ski slopes. It would be fun to come in the winter to take advantage of the fireplace, etc.

The BEST part was having a washer/dryer IN the unit!

We had one issue, one night, with the resort not enforcing the pool curfew, since we had an early start for the next day, and there was no one to call for help. But, the next day I called the front desk and they were very accommodating and we did not have another problem with that for the rest of the week.

Steamboat is beautiful in the summer. Our favorite activities were, floating down the Yampa River and climbing Fish Creek Falls. Wish we could have done both activities, one more time.

We have 3 boys (13, 13, 10), and all 3 had plenty of room to spread out. By the way, my youngest son must have been well-rested in his VERY comfy bedroom, because he went 9 for 13 at the plate that week! :-)

Slopeside Grill was, by far, the best restaurant we visited.

If we can ever return to Steamboat we would ONLY stay at the Eagleridge Lodge!

Couldn't have asked for more in Steamboat Springs

Just returned from a weeklong vacation in Steamboat Springs. Eagle Ridge was better than expected. Condo accomodations and furnishings were excellent and very luxurious, service was exceptional (especially the very helpful drivers and front desk staff), location was great although it didn't matter as the personal shuttle and drivers would cheerfully take you anywhere, and most everything needed was thought of. Loved the round the clock coffee, gym, Internet computer in lobby, heated pool and hottub (pool could've been a little warmer for my taste but was fine for others in my party and only drawback was one hottub, which did get crowded in the evenings), shuttle service, ski lockers (great to not have to lug skis to the condo) and views from our condo unit. This is not a huge resort property - but is small and intimate and the staff gets to know you. Great for families as well as couples.

Highly recommended from a very picky traveler. Would definitely stay here again.

... We started over at Sunshine Peak and then over to Triangle and other easy bumps. Lunch today was at Rendezvous food court and consisted of chili. I thought the chili was quite good--it had a good kick to it. In the afternoon we skied morningside park, Cyclone, Norther and Vagabond among others of course.

After sitting in the hot tub for a bit I went to dinner downtown at Mazzola’s. I had the cheesy bread, lasagna, and tiramisu. I especially enjoyed the ...

The best thing about this entry is that ..... it's the last one!

We got a fresh perspective on Apartheid (Apart-ness), while traveling around SA. We thought we knew about Soweto at least, but we learned it is much bigger than we thought with 4 million people, and is no longer just a big shanty town, only. Yes, it is that, but there is now also a small middle class and a small upper class as well, a ...
