We woke up on Saturday feeling quite sad
about leaving Yangshuo and our friends we had made at the Green Forest Hostel.
It was by far the best hostel we had stayed in China so far on our travels.

on the runway for nearly an hour before a slot became available. The flight was
uneventful, but much longer at 2 and half hours compared to our quick jaunts
between xian, guilin and haikou. As we were sky card members we got free
slippers and water as a thank you before departure.
We landed in Shanghai an hour later than
expected and consequently ...
but he wanted to get our photo so that he could show his friends he had hung
out with white people. The drive back in the airconditioned bmw was bliss in
comparison to the overcrowded buses.
That night we went to the lounge bar in the
center of the hotel to enjoy an evening drink. The bar was completely empty and
the poor girls couldn’t speak a word of English. Poor matt was given my
alcoholic drink to start, but in ...

and puttered in the lagoon.
If we would have been there longer, we may have taken a tour,
but we decided to swim, read, get massages and simply relax. We met the general
manager of the resort (who is from Australia) and his wife and 5 year old son. Not
bad having this resort to “play” in when you get home from school!
The local Hainanese who worked on the resort were ...
... trip together. My leaving has become a frequent conversation between the two of us and I thought this might be a nice talisman of our adventure. Brace yourself though--it's pretty long and, well, film production is not a future career choice.
