Hi ,sorry for such a long delay for a new entry The rates of the hotels in Batu Ferringhi are expensive. There are some guest houses near the beach which the prices are more affordable. I just stay at ET guest house which I booked from Hostelworld.com.Don't miss this website if you looking for a good place to stay. The beach itself is quite good, thought not up there with Malaysia's best and the water is not of the tropically clear variety you might expect. The beach is kept clean, even on we...
Penang, Malaysia edidigit Left KL by Asia Air to Penang. We got to fly with a Sheik and many Muslim women who were covered from head to toe. Nothing out of the ordinary until we reached our destination. The ET Budget Guest-house surpasses all of our expectations. No TV, no towels (we had to ask) and a small bar of soap. The good thing is that the ocean is right outside our door.
Went to dinner at an Italian Restaurant and on the way back to the Guest-house there was ANOTHER night market. It seems things only g...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!
Denise had to go to the Thai Embassy so I stayed at the beach-house and ran my own errand. The Hard Rock Hotel and Restaurant just opened in Penang in September and since I am the dutiful sister, I walked all the way there to pick up the prized possession that my Sister collects - A Hard Rock Shot Glass.
Denise could only drop off her Passport so I went back with her to pick it up later in the afternoon. Nothing nearby except the usual 7-11. There is one...

... settle for reading the report the next day....
On the Sunday we took a stroll around the town and up to an ATM and by the time we got back
we were shattered from the humidity-it really was tough. So we just lazed about on the laptop for the afternoon sorting a few bits out. We then grabbed an early dinner (in the same place we ate the night before and also would again the next night-it was so good and cheap)
I rang home Sunday night as I had ...
... originally the first English-language public school in the east, established in 1816, was full of interesting photos, maps and historical records charting the growth of Penang. One floor is dedicated to a replica of a Chinese trader’s house, and another to a Straits Chinese exhibition. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed, but the exhibits gave a fascinating insight into Penang’s history. Returning to the Streets of Harmony ...
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia ironinkent... about as big as the lizard that some dude tried to sell me, but more on that in a bit :) The temple is very nice, it is said to be one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. It has a number of levels, the highest housing a giant statue of Quan Yin. The statue is under construction right now so it's completely surrounded by scaffolding, once it's finished i assume it will be worth visiting. There is a large pagoda in which we climbed to the top of, a great view of the ...
Georgetown, Pinang, Malaysia tranquillize... stinking greenish vomit right in front of the reception. The scêne outside is equally depressing, empty beer bottles and cans littered around the sidewalks, a few Hot Mommas asleep on wooden vegetable crates put together and covered with some old blankets, the air already sweltering under the hot Thai sun of an early tropical morning - somehow the temperatures in Southern Thailand are always a few degrees hotter than up ...
pinang, Malaysia farang020... jossa meidan pitaisi olla Air Francen Pariisin lentoa varten tiistai-iltana eli vajaan kahden vuorokauden paasta). Ehkapa siis huomenna Penangin lentokentalla sitten selviaa, onko sita meidan Macaon lentoa olemassakaan, vai pitaako alkaa lentelemaan Kuala Lumpurin ja mahdollisesti Singaporen kautta jonnekinpain Kiinaa. Pulau Pinang, Malaysia amatsinrake... we were meandering along roads with the smells, sights and sounds just like the real India. Shops blaring out the latest Bollywood tunes, spice shops and sumptuous Indian curries cooking in the many restaurants all that was missing was the constant beeping horns from rickshaws and the odd cow ambling across the road. The architecture in many parts of George Town is really quite amazing. It was declared a world heritage site only in July 2008. Our tourist guide suggests 3 different ...
