Great to be in Seattle- staying at "Keisha Manor" at Syl's step-sister Tasha's and husband Keith's house in the Olympic Manor. The great hospitality and sharing of people along the way has been amazing! Thank you EVERYONE! Yesterday, I walked for 2 1/2 hours on the beach near Colleen's house. I walked beyond Lighthouse Point and back. Nature at it's best at low tide: Blue Heron, gulls, sea otters, the gentle sound of the waves and walking. Wonderfully meditative ...

... Ron and Marlene Massa were delightful travel companions, and we hope to travel with them again in the future. Would I ever come back to Portugal and the Douro River? Yes, but not very soon as there are still many other unseen countries waiting for me.

We are headed home to now enjoy our Seattle summer.....and I can start planning next winter's excursions........Until then......Tchau( goodbye in portuguese) .....

... and the regular procedure to cool the brakes is to lower the landing gear in flight. Needless to say, this wasn’t a great start to this troubled flight.

Because the in-flight entertainment system wasn’t working, we couldn’t see on the map if we were circling around DEN or proceeding on our regular flight path while we flew with the landing gear down. Thankfully the gear came up at 4:37 a.m. JST, 19 minutes after we took off. The ...
