    ... up to date on our travels. Last night we stayed in a park in Maryland (apparently illegally) and woke up to a fun note on our car signed by Officer Dingus. This has actually been the most difficult part of this section, finding places to sleep (as we aren't staying in hotels.) We are now at a beautiful home in Maryland staying with Nick's very friendly family friends. We are off to DC tomorrow to see the sights!

    ... forces. The pictures probably speak for themselves but we were particularly touched by the wall of stars, each one representing one hundred dead (3), the Vietnam Memorial with every killed American soldier’s name inscribed(4) and the Korean war memorial that had an eery quality in the snow (5). You can’t walk away from the National Mall without seeing that the American’s certainly know how to honour their war dead, at the same time you can’t walk away ...

    ... By the way, he did have Welsh ancestors. The buggers get everywhere. Inside the memorial is so impressive. Lincoln's statue stands (sorry sits) at 27 foot tall. There's usually knowledgable memorial staff around who are happy to give you a history lesson. I heard on the news that they will be taking the scaffolding down off the Washington memorial. They have almost finished the repairs ...

    ... it's off to work.

    I get back and FaceTime Helen and head back to the gym. I have 45 mins on the bike and feel much better for it.

    We then go to Gilly's Craft Beer and Fine Wine Bar for pre dinner drinks and nibbles. We share the cheese board which has 5 cheeses and bizarrely 2 are from Wales. The Harlech cheese contains horseradish and is yummy. The beer selection in Gilly's is very good, and I firstly have the ...
