... for the van somewhere else and also it was a nice secure underground car park that was 2.1m high which we need so all was good. After parking up we managed to find our way to a tram stop and bought an all day travel card which was only €7 each, we were a bit confused for a while as to whether we were buying the right one but it allowed us to get on all the trains, buses and trams we wanted to during the day so was spot on. ... roads, it was over 30 miles, with speeds rarely exceeding 20 miles per hour given the curves. The scenery was breathtaking, but the driving got old, very quickly. I was very happy when we came down from the hills and could see the massive monastery complex sitting off in the distance.

... the true winemaker among them, speaks primarily Catalan and French, having studied his craft in France and spending much of his time there. His brother, who is a banker by day, speaks excellent English, and he did the majority of the translation. The French-speaker was passionate about the wine, as well as Catalan politics, and his brother was left to do most of the translating during our four-hour-plus visit. ... Catalan foods that night -- Iberico ham, and Pom de Tomate (rustic bread toasted and then infused with the juice of ripe tomatoes on top). The entire meal was sublime and the wine exceptional. In fact, I ended up purchasing some of the wine we had this first night as it really stood out to me.

Luckily we had only to walk up a couple of flights to our rooms. It was almost midnight when we turned in and I know I slept the best that night of any on our trip.

... since we have been assigning characters. The Sat Nav is Dougal, as he gets grumpy when we go a different way to what he has shown us and sometimes says odd things. He's Spanish so we are getting lots of practise on directions.
Jo has chosen Dylan on the basis that she's been so laid back on occasions we've gone the wrong way. She was certain that she was not going to be Ermintrude!
