Today was a very exciting prospect – our other German friends were to arrive in Eibau for a grand reunion; Mario & Katrin had very kindly invited them to over so we could all be together again just as we were in Botswana. Uwe, Ulrike & Christoph arrived during the morning and it was wonderful to see them again.

We were all spending the day together, and decided to go south to Zittau ...

          Getting out of Dodge
OK, Wroclaw certainly isn't Dodge, but it is a city and a beautiful one at that. We have been traveling for about a week; all in cities (all lovely, charismatic cities, but still cities) and we were ready for the country with the open spaces and quieter pace of life. We just are not city people.

Day 210-211: a great weekend at the snow!

... were both so wobbly. Marc and Hubert are both really good at skiing so they had no problems. They even went over the jumps too! With ease! I really wanted to but as I approached them every single time I chucked out. Probably a good thing, knowing me I would have ended up with a broken neck. Maybe if I was wearing a helmet. And I don't think our travel insurance covers that either! At the base of the intermediate run the four of us had a drink at a snow pub. It was ...

Day 209: an adventure to Czech

A travel blog entry by adventurenonni on Feb 14, 2014

... Apparently it used to be German territory and a lot of the population call themselves German: well perhaps the older generation. All the signs were written in Czech and then German. A few of the younger ones spoke English, but mostly our German friends had to do the talking for us. We then went to the information place to inquire about a place to stay. The guy at the Information shop was really nice and helped us find a place one which was reasonably priced ...

Friday was the first of Czech trek which is a DIS adventure tour in the Czech Republic! We left Copenhagen at 5 pm and took an overnight bus to Hruba Skala. We arrived at 7 am to a castle in the middle of a gorgeous hilly fall landscape only to find out this is where we are staying! We had breakfast right when we got there and were outside soon after to start the day.
The first thing we did was archery. We practiced for an hour or two and then had a contest. I ended up doing ...
