koh rang, Trat, Thailand blummo... of some sun, Richard whom we had left at Chiang Mai turned up with his mate James. We had dinner at a little noodle shop that Jie had been eyeing up all week before moving onto a Swedish bar-shack playing non-stop Abba cover versions. One Jaegerbomb and quite a few Sangssom and cokes later we were back in the noodle shop for supper before getting to bed nice and late ready for our early start the next day.
Ko Chang, Thailand nicole_hamakers... was telling me to listen to a poster I saw, advertising for "Treehouse II" on Long Beach, 54km away. (Yes, this is the 2nd biggest island in Thailand. It's not small.) There used to be a Treehouse guesthouse on this beach, and it had been strongly recommended to me, but now it is only a restaurant, and the guesthouse has moved to the quieter beach on the other side of the island. So, the next morning I jumped on the Treehouse taxi, and I am so glad that I listened to my gut on that ...
Koh Chang, Thailand myriam_123... like a 200 Baht place. As I had already paid for all my days in Ko Chang I couldn't switch hotels in the morning. As I was walking down the street in the evening, I saw a snorkeling excursion, 4 islands in 1 day, for 550 Baht so I booked it for tomorrow. The other ones I saw were 1000 Baht and up. I also booked my airplane ticket to the Philippines with Cebu Pacific for 6200 Baht (one way) which is very expensive. The same ticket was about $50 back when I ...
Ko Chang, Thailand kiki1975... floor is booked by a group over New Years. Bit of a drag to have to move so often, but we really like it here - and it's only their wooden bungalows that are dodgey. Have to say that I'm glad we're staying here where there is a choice of wooden vs concrete as opposed to the other places on the island where there are only wooden bungalows. All part of the adventure... Happy New Year!
Koh Wai, Thailand varney... houses near or on the beach, but it was never crowded. The restuarant right on the water is called the Treehouse where everybody met up to eat, hang out, dance, or just relax and read a book. The Canadian guy, Wade has been traveling for 15 months and was on a very tight budget, so I think he was gonna stay on the island for another 2 weeks. I have met some ...
Koh Chang, Thailand lbraunOkay people, so we made it out of Bangkok alive and bused on down to Trat which took 6 hours. We first stayed on the East coast of the island looking for a place to stay for 10 days or so and worked out that the Southern tip was the best, most relaxing, quite, remote, chilled out spot. So we stayed in The Magic Garden then Siam Hut before getting a truck taxi the long (and only) way around the island to a place on a bumpy dirt track ...
Ko Chang, Thailand ollieandmeals... in the pooring rain...we were completely drenched!!! But as upsetting as it was, we figured it was ok..we'd get wet, go to the hostel, change clothes, dry-off, eat, and head to the airport....during our lovely walk in the rain, luc asked me if I had double checked our departure time and I said "no...we probably should have last night...oops...but i think it's only around 10 pm...", anyway, so we get to our hostel, run upstairs with our fresh clothes, and I take out our ...
Ko Chang, Thailand lucbergeron86... is supposedly one of the less touristy islands--certainly less than Phuket, etc. And its low season, so that should help out too. Well, the tourists are still here, and the Thai are such accepting and nice people, that they have bent over backwards to accomodate tourists, not realizing in the process that they have created a place that sucks.

For instance, you can't get a Thai iced tea on this island. You can get ...
