Visit to Durham
This sunday we went to Durham. It is a little village of 20000 habitants in the south of Newcastle. We saw the Castle and the Cathedral. The Castle is very nice and is 1000 years old. It's a beautiful village with old style streets.
I've seen Fire and I've seen Rain
... bought (from eBay of course) only keeps the place above freezing in the night.
The gas heater is brilliant. It has two fan forced outlets, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom plus the heat directly from the heater and, as a bonus, the flue passes through Jeans wardrobe so now she has warm clothes. In fact it could be used as a sauna!
Rain. Sunday and Monday were the worst yet. Strong winds ...
Back to the van
... Middlesbrough, or 3 if you are in Whitby. The 3rd reason is that the trip is 45 miles through the moors and takes 90 minutes as it stops frequently and needs to climb a lot of hills and it was less then 10 pounds for both of us return. It follows the Esk right up to the top of the moors and closely follows the route we took the day before in the car

Ready for Departure
As dusk descends, the promised monsoon rains have not quite materialised but it is cold and very windy. It's good to know we will in hot and sunny climes quite soon.
Luggage is nearly packed. Judith has been scouring the shops for suitable light clothing and we have vast quantities of medical items including insect repellents and malaria tablets.
No room for the cricket bat I'm afraid.
