Today was unexpectedly sunny! We woke with a hot sun streaming in through our window, and the pitter patter of last nights rain had disappeared without a trace. Headed off early due to another day of 600 kms +, lots of Autobahns & roadworks as I headed via the Choloy War Cemetery to visit a forgotten Australian pilot who was killed before the Battle of Britain with a DFC.... Through the hills and ended up camping the night beside the Moselle River at Metz. Nice ...

... Swiss family with 2 boys had shared several locks with us (we had seen them yesterday in their very first lock and helped them) and they were enjoying their second day. They had been doing some locks by themselves now and at least they were being careful with their hire boat, which was good to see.

... with a second visit to Pompidou Metz. Its new exhibition, Frac Forever, featured pieces from the Lorraine FRAC (French Regional Art Collection). The novelty factor was displaying them in one large and dark room. We were given small flashlights to navigate and view the pieces. I thought this was really fun to reveal each piece one a time. My favourite piece was the surreal Revenge of the Goldfish (1981) by Sandy Skogland.

... got back on the road and found our much more likely with an open on-site restaurant and English speaking staff! I had veal for dinner, with a glass of Chablis followed by a cheese board! It's got to be done :) martins cote de beouff tasted a bit off to me but perhaps that's just my commoner taste buds, and the veal was ok. Tender but not a strong flavour. About to get some kip ready ...
