We have arrived in Portugal and it is beautiful and sunny. We did have a few issues at the border where you have to register for the tolls and we sort of by passed them up the wrong way right in front of the police station. Two weeks ago we went to have our water pump replaced. Couldn't fit us in for two weeks but then in the end felt sorry for us as they thought what will we do without water. We didn't say that it has been broken for 4 weeks and we could not be bothered to fix it. Just use bottles. We only need it for the kitchen. We left Alvor early and headed north via Paira de Roche. Which was horrid and so built up. Along the river and crossed by Portimao then North to Silves a town on the river Arade. It had been the centre for died fruits although had seen action from Arabs and Crussaders. There was a large part of the upper town which was fortified. Thick walls on dark red rock.
