    ... monuments, ect. Bruges has to be the most beautiful city I've seen so far. Huge cathedrals and orange rooftops dot the horizon, people saunter slowly down narrow cobblestone streets, cozy, centuries-old edifices house chocolate shops and lace stores. I'd be surprised if there were a more perfect, stereotypical, peaceful, cozy little european town anywhere else on the continent.

    Nice breakfast at hotel. Checked out and then went for a great horses and carriage ride around the local area led by one of Jill's distant relatives who prattled on in Dutch with Jill up front for 1.5 hours. Then had morning tea with their family in Dutch. Lovely cake with fresh strawberries topped with the slag room. Then another trip ...

    ... We both agreed that we do better in Europe. I think it may be a kind of survival skill thing... good for both of us I think.

    I can't say enough that I just really had a nice time while he was here. I was sad to see him go. I am glad that I will be returning for his birthday in November. He knows how good the Belgian chocolate is and I am sure he can expect a nice dose of that for his birthday. :)

    ... look in my emergency instructions found I was to report to the bridge which I duly did, to see the Captain running (yes running!) out onto the wing of the bridge. The Mate was there too and it quickly became obvious what the problem was. The ship had broken its mooring lines and was leaving the quay – even with 2 tugs pushing us on, they couldn’t cope.

    I skedaddled out of there. I was not adding value to the situation ...
