Got to a downtown port location, thus able to WALK THRU OLD TOWN from 9 to 12:30.

In the Town Center is a huge cathedral, occupying two blocks, at least 15 stories high, filled with filigree and buttressed walls. It was built over 25 years beginning about 1350. It is an awesome structure. As we stood outside listening to our guide, many black Mercedes, BMW's and Porsches drove to the church and out stepped distinguished looking people dressed all in ...

For dessert, crepes Suzette. After our meal, despite the weather being pretty stormy although no rain, we went for a walk around the little town. So lovely, delightful little terraced houses, the canals, the boats, the streets. another wonderful evening. Back to the hotel and early ...

... George fancied a beer so we went to the Irish pub so he could treat himself to a Guinness for his birthday. Real surprise at dinner. Music started playing and all the waiters brought in a beautiful birthday cake for George with sparks flying everywhere. We hadn't expected it so had no camera. Fortunately our friends took a picture. They are going to transfer it to us asap so we can post it. George ran and got ...

... freezing and we didn’t stay too long! In the evening we headed back to the Altstadt for some food in a nice restaurant, and then walked around the town for a while and saw some of the sights lit up in the dark. We had a reasonably early night, as it had been such a tiring day! Yesterday we were up early and out in the open for a walking tour around the Medienhafen (media port) in Düsseldorf. Our guide was lovely and she spoke very clearly, making ...
