... the whole of this beautiful architect designed house with grand views, all to ourselves! Dinner last night was lovely with 4 very interesting and tasty courses. Washed down with a bottle of local red wine!
And ......breakfast this morning was another excellent 4 course affair!
Luigi, the owner, has just told us about local places of interest and walks.
We drove to Tropea this morning and visited the old town and then went on to the beach beyond Sta Domenica. The weather was gorgeous and 28c and swimming was fab in the warm sea!
On on the way back we stopped at Pizzo and viewed the Chiaso Piedigrotto. This is a church that has been carved into the rock. Unfortunately it wasn't open, although apparently it should have been! We could see a bit of the carvings through the gates!
I booked us one night at this hotel because it looked like a fairytale castle, built in stone, and complete with turrets.......its situated about 7 miles up in the mountains from the coast with amazing views.......and we now have 2 nights here at a very agreeable rate! ... along the way at autogrill for dinner. This time, I didn't take ANYTHING in with me except my camera which did not leave my next.
Carmelina packed us some stuff eggplants which I nibbled on at midnight.
We finally arrived home at Bergamo at 3am. It took us 13.5 hours to drive from South to North with stops. It went quickly. I was really happy to lie down in my bed and sleeeeeep! :)
