... heading back to the hotel to pick up our bags and head for the train station. The twenty-minute walk to the station took us over the Rhine across the Kennedy Bridge which has been designated as a "lover's bridge" of sorts. Here, thousands upon thousands of padlocks have been locked to any available space on the bridge's railings and balustrade and their keys thrown into the river as a symbolic act of eternal love between the two people performing the informal ritual.
