Mt Buller skiing

We headed north in Pantuffle, through Yarra valley and up to Mt Buller, 3 hours saw us ascending the winding roads and monstrous amounts of money later to get into the park and pay for a 200 yard taxi ride we were in the village. We stayed at the Duck inn which was cosy and did good food. The skiing was fn, gorgeous sun day 1 and ...

Snowboarding Mount Buller

Had the oppertunity to scoot off to Mt Buller for a days snowboarding with the lads from Cork. Was just the one day and by right we shouldn't have gone at all cause we were going to New Zealand the next day and we would be wreaked cause of gettin up at 5am the nex day. Was worth it though cause the snow was great and Shaun had got better so he could come to all the ...

Skiing in the Buff

... the mist isn't swirling. Today I could actually see where I fell! Practised up and down the gentle inclines of the Nordic Bowl, fell with elegance (HA!) along the aqueduct, hauled self up Mc Kay Road and ended with the buzz of a short downhill rush on Wombat's Ramble. 'Ramble'? But that implies slow and controlled - not in my case! Wednesday weather: worked up too much of a sweat to ...

Mansfield-Mount Buller

... a lookout shed - throughout summer they have people inside who watch for lightening strikes and bush fires. We took Pepe for walks alongside the river, had dinner at a tree house restaurant, went for cups of tea at Fiona's friends house, had a look at the horse stables and race track where her ex-husband and kids ride. We went to the Mansfield Zoo which has kangaroos, deer and peacocks walking around that you can ...

Following day Jules and I went to see Red Hot Chill Peppers in Melbourne, they were very good, although there warm up act was terrible.

Cairns and up to Daintree

... We did a slow boat trip on the estaurine river and saw one croc and some cool plants, kingfishers and a tree snake. This stay has been quite different from the rest of our trip because of the large group we are in, but the wildlife is incredible. We are next heading to stay at Noah's beach, camping out near cape tribulation, and still in Daintree. We will update more soon and hopefeully some good pics!

where do i even begin?

... we met up with another gapper, Edwina Lumsden. She and her sister Anna were at a town nearby about to head off to a family get toether. Luckily though it worked out that we got to have lunch with them at the bakery! Peter treated us to 6 different meat pies, a sausage role, and lots of different sweet baked goods! My non-dairy diet went out the window for the day but I still think it was worth it! It was so delicious! Afterwards we headed to the "Lolly Shop ...

Not such an easy climb

Our drive into the country started out fantastic. It was a warm day, in the high 20's, with only a few clouds in the sky. The drive out of Melbourne is beautiful and picturesque, through windy roads up and down hills. A little nerve racking at first with the wrong-side-of-the-road and everything, but got used to it. After 3-4 hours of driving, seemingly in the right direction, we stopped of in Warburton (Brebeuf boyz, did we not have Art Teacher by ...

Mountain 'Climbing'

This morning we left Sarah and Mike's place to scale Australia's tallest peak, Mt Kosciuszko. In reality it is a very leasurly walk, but if the tallest mountain in the country is named after a famous Pole, we have to be there. It is currently the heart of summer here in Australia and the temperature is hovering in the mid to high ...

Bushlands Ping Pong

Ontos marked a return to my one true love: ping pong. I'll never be the best, but I love bragging about it like I am. I love the click-clack-click-clack of the paddle and ball, my trusty forehand serve and my unreliable backhand smash. They had a table set up in the big social hall at the Ontos Farm, which has dormitory accomodation for people coming through the area ...
