... out of the way but was situated on a very busy side street. Luckily we got there just at the right time because we were whisked right to a table in the front of the restaurant where we could keep an eye on all of the hustle and bustle inside and outside the place. The food was pretty good, it felt a little touristy but there was a really fun energy in the place and it was certainly not a bad meal so we’ll count that as a success in a city where so many people ...

... nearby for lunch. I had "white" (no sauce as opposed to "red" with sauce) pizza and since we weren't sharing this time, I was able to order mushrooms on it. Mel had pasta. By now we are really getting tired of pasta and pizza…

When we were ready, we made the not too far jaunt down to the Colosseum (Colosseo in Italian). Thanks to Rick Steves, we had visited the forum first and had our combo ticket already. We were able to ...

... of the holiest places in Rome. The original church was built in 324, commissioned by Emperor Constantine and built over the shrine marking the burial place of the martyred St Peter. St Peter, who has one of the Apostles and considered as the 1st pope, was crucified head-down (at his request, as he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ). Many popes were buried in the basilica between the 4th and 15th centuries. During the years that the papal seat was located in ...
