Historical Traveler Reviews of Dubrovnik Palace
Luxury hotel

The Palace Hotel lives up to its name! We have just returned - our room was large, very well equipped - towels changed every day - bedding changed practically every other day.
Range of food at breakfast was superb - absolutely everything you could want - there is an outside terrace where you can eat breakfast if you just ask the maitre'D.
Absolutely stunning views from all rooms/restaurant.
We ate a couple of times in the restaurant next to the pool where the fish was superb (a bit pricey, but this is a 5* hotel) and the sunsets amazing. Buses run from outside the hotel direct to the old town - so always a seat when travelling in, but the usual crush when getting the bus from Pile Gate.
Outdoor pool the warmest I have ever swum in - and a swim up bar as well! Towels provided for the pool and always space somewhere - if not beside the pool then on one of the nearby sun terraces.
Only one small downside - the area around the pool could have been cleaner - I would want this area hosed down every morning if I was in charge, but this obviously was not done.
All in all, a great place to go.
Great hotel/place

We stayed at the hotel for two weeks (honeymoon) in May/June and we had a great time. The food was excellent, something for everyone. The service was typical mediteranien, but just relax and smile and we promise you that you will get special service for the rest of your holiday.
Great views from the hotel and the staff was super friendly.
Dubrovning and the surrounding Islands are fantastic. Go in May or September, as it gets really crowded (and hot) in the summer months.

Brilliant place

Just back from a week at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel and can say that it was the best hotel that i have ever stayed at. The hotel truly lived up to its five star billing and the staff were helpful, friendly, attentive and extremely courteous. No brochures or photos from websites did the hotel justice and it is only by visiting the hotel that you can fully appreciate its splendour.
Fabulous hotel

What a beautiful hotel! We stayed here for 3 nights during our 3 week tour of Eastern Europe. The rooms are large and the views are superb. It has been renovated in the last year and the staff is ready and willing to help in any way that they can. Some of the reviews commented on the food, but we had no problem with any of the food at breakfast. We didn't eat dinner here as there are so many fantastic restaurants in the area. We loved the location and the transportation system allows for you to be downtown quickly and easily. We initially wanted to stay inside the walled city but are very glad that we didn't as it is so crowded with tourists. Dubrovnik is a beautiful little town, but it was great to get out and go back to our hotel in a quieter part of the area, at the end of the day. The swimming pool is wonderful and there are lots of places to sunbathe. Great value for the money. Go to the Nautica restaurant right outside the walled city and sit outside for a fantastic meal with amazing ambiance. We loved Dubrovnik and the hotel and will definitely come back again. In fact, we are considering coming back next year for 4 weeks to tour some of the islands. What a breath taking place. The hotel as well as the city are a "must" for anyone in the area.
Excellent hotel and location but service & food needs sorting out

Hotel and facilities are absolutely superb (5*) but tends to be let down by inefficient service in restaurant and bars.
Food tends to be monotonous and not hot enough.
With a little better management, this could be one of the best hotels we have stayed at.
That said, it is in one of the best positions in the Med and ideally located (direct bus service) for the City of Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Absolutely unique.
Excellent Hotel

This newly renovated hotel(2004) is well placed for the old town of Dubrovnik.Bus runs from directly outside at regular intervals. also boat 3 times daily from jetty. The rooms are quite large, clean, very well equipped. The sunsets from every room and views are to die for ! Food is good but there are lots of cheaper options nearby.Pool area is fantastic, lots of nooks and crannies for private sunbathing.Cordoned off swimming area in sea.Bar prices quite high for Croatia, but on the whole beautiful location, excellent hotel.
Great find!

We stayed at this hotel over Easter 2005 having seen the reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. All rooms had fantastic sea views and the hotel facilities including the gym were well appointed. The hotel is a reasonable distance from the old town but there is an excellent, frequent and cheap bus service which goes from directly outside the hotel to the Pile gate (takes 10 to 15 minutes). Would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel, fantastic views, excellent service. Every facility you would expect from a five star hotel. Spent 4 days in Dubrovnik. Highly recommended.
Fantastic hotel

We chose the Dubrovnik Palace for our first trip to this wonderful town in October. The Dubrovnik Palace was beyond all our expectations. This hotel has everything you need, fantastic location, friendly and helpful staff, great leisure facilities and easy access to the Old Town. The recent renovations have created a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. The outside areas include swimming pool, childrens pool, sea access and lots of little nooks and crannys where you can sit privately. On the one day it rained we made full use of the indoor pool. There is also a well equiped gym and beauty salon/spa.
Better than 4 star!

We have just returned from a couple of weeks in Croatia. I didn't put a lot of effort into choosing our hotel in Dubrovnik as we were only there for 4 nights. I picked the Dubrovnik Palace because it had 4 stars, was by the sea and had been recently renovated.
We were quite surprised therefore that this was the hotel of the holiday. It is gorgeous - modern in style, with lots of use of natural materials, stone, marble, slate. Almost everywhere has a stunning view over the Elafiti islands - the pool, the bedrooms, the dining room, the sunset lounge on the 9th, the cocktail lounge on the 10th. The facilities are great - a state-of-the-art gym, spa, large indoor pool & jacuzzi, broadband internet (free), 5 or 6 places to eat. The beach is nice too - it isn't sand but rock, but there are lots of little nooks to sit alone on your lounger - or you could sit by one of the outdoor pools, if you like company.
We were in a standard room which wasn't big but it had a decent sized balcony, big cupboards, a desk, chair and coffee table. The bathroom was nice - bathrobes & slippers provided too.
It wasn't style over substance though - the staff were professional and the food was good, especially the fresh seafood.
We normally prefer smaller hotels but it never felt too busy (apart from maybe breakfast) as at any one time a lot of the guests were on trips. Getting into town was easy, there is a bus runs directly from outside the hotel to the gate of the old town every twenty minutes
