Friends and Family,Hello to you all! This is where I'll be doing most of my "updating" to you all, besides skype and calling about my semester in Dublin. First and foremost, I miss you all terribly...but more about that later. So, I have been here for a week! It really has flown by. I'm settled into my new apartment (pictures to follow). Or, as I've been advised by the Irish and Europeans, it is a "flat." Apparently, an apartment is a very upscale, townhome sort of thing, where as a flat is d...

... the Dublin tourist office. We then rushed back to the hotel, picked up our luggage, and drove to the rental car office near the airport in order to return the car. We took a free shuttle from the rental car office to the airport.

On our flight to Paris, we had an aerial view of the Irish coast, the Irish Sea, England, and the English Channel. Ilya realized how narrow the English Channel is and joked that the French and the English ...
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland ilyaandrebecca... during my time here...it just won't be the same back home...

The show had 4 comedians and an MC in a room that held between 50 and 75. It was great, and somehow it all just made it funnier that they all had thick Irish accents. I was sitting at the front of the bar on a stool right at eye level with the comics wearing a bright nearly neon green polo shirt that I bought in Turkey. I am also American. I think every comic worked me into their bit, starting with the MC ...
Dublin, Dublin, Ireland jimmyandkristen... but that is fairly common in European hotel rooms, especially in Ireland where high temperatures are rare. The window opened in a couple of inches from the top. We left it open all the time, which contributed to some of my TB papers wrinkling from the humidity. Other features of the room included a TV with good selection of channels, a small table with two chairs, a loveseat, a large desk with several U.K. style grounded electrical outlets, a coffee maker (in a drawer ...
Dublin, Dublin, Ireland jonesinmybones... And what a night, I'm actually smiling right now just thinking back about it. I had more fun than I've had in a really long time, we were just getting really really really ****ed up and random neighbours showed up chatting away, playing great tunes and just spacing out big time. Around midnight or so some headed off and other headed off to bed so Lukasz & I got out of there as well and I ended up going back to his place. Had a nice chill time and didnt get to ...
Dublin, Ireland tini1985So. After 27 hours of traveling I was back in Sweden where I stayed for four days, unpacking, washing and repacking. Doing various medical check-ups (including getting a moll removed which might be of importance later on in this blog) and seeing various friends. All fun and hectic and very jet-lagged as I found myself for the third time in Dublin airport last Monday the 21st. I had last minute found this guy Stephen on Couchsurfing.com who had promised to put me up for a couple of ...
Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland tini1985... the whole "Way", we did do another 7kms to the nearest town to catch a bus to Dublin. We are glad for our bodies but do wish to have finished differently. Nonetheless the 117 kms over 6 days was an amazingly varied journey, geographically, physically and spiritually. The first thing to say is that for anyone contemplating walking the Wicklow Way is "Take little with you". We began our journey with 2 packs weighing a total of 22 kilos. At the end of day one after 17 kms with ...
Dublin, Ireland peekayloon... birds floating gracefully on the lake, which looked like swans, but turned out to be the biggest seagulls I've ever seen. It kind of spoils the atmosphere of the park when the graceful birds are really annoying and noisey seagulls. Then I went back to the hostel for a quick cup of tea before I headed back out to check my email. Finally a response from Julia - so I rang her and have to meet her for tea at some Thai place at 7.30.
Dublin, Ireland kerosenaI'm in Dublin now, staying in a hostel that was formerly a recording studio for U2, Sinead O'Connor and other notable Irish artists. It's really cool, I'm taking pictures but don't know how or when I'll be able to post them. Quick highlights from the day: we wandered around alot in the ...
Dublin, Ireland mlledesciseaux... Gaol. The tour was a little long-winded and included a film/slide show in the old chapel which told about the history and occurrences in the gaol. Caught the bus back to O'Connell Street passing by the zoo, Phoenix Park and Jameson distillery. Had dinner at McDonalds while we waited for the last bus at 6.30pm for one last lap of the city. Walked back to hotel for a coffee and to watch some soccer on TV.
