    ... afternoon lazing around by the pool and I helped myself to a Mai Tai. The pool was just 4 steps above the beach and our beach had a long dock going out into the ocean.     We left our hotel in Chiang Rai for the 3 hour drive to Chiang Mai but broke up the drive with a stop at "Cabbages and Condoms", a coffee stop and gift shop, named by its founder who wanted to teach local people about safe sex including AIDS prevention. He invented the catchy name for his shop which invoked both his purpose and the fact that the local farmers grew cabbages. We bought souvenir key chains with condoms, clearly marked as samples ...
