Next stop Sonoma. We planned to wing our overnight accommodation with no bookings, but what we didn't factor in was the popularity of the wine country north of San Francisco, and when you add in a classic car racing event, and the fact that any sensible San Franciscan would escape the cloud and head out of the city...... we paid a little more than we had planned on, to overnight in Sonoma. Sunday offered up sun, and we visited vineyards. Sebastiani was close to town; it's a big name and offer...

... bartender starts a fire for us and gets us hot drinks. We get settled into our rooms and hop into our private hot tub as soon as we as we can get naked.
After a nap we take a short walk to the private restaurant and tuck into a wonderful dinner. Then back to our wonderful little lodge. Tomorrow, hiking and taking in the delights of the spa.

... of our friends showed up and there were 112 Pabst Blue Ribbon's in the fridge. Unlike our last party everyone brought piles of beer and wine so at the end of the night with a pile of drunk people, we somehow still had two coolers and a fridge loaded with beer. Great!
Spent most of Saturday being absolutely worthless. Rented In Bruges, (probably my favorite movie ever) and had a relaxing quiet evening. Until.....

And back to the rancho for our last night. Kirven and his collection of sous chefs (although who exactly was head chef would probably be debated) cooked up a major banquet – fantastic nosh that even this vegetarian could appreciate (although not partake of). We worked our way through the collected purchases for the week – well you know this would better than trying to carry ...
... the sun to be up. Me and Jim ran errands to the supermarket to get the necessary ingredients for the breakfast casserole (which was awesome) and I think I nearly created an international incident by bagging my own groceries! What? the lady was working the till by herself and the queue was forming so why wouldn't it put my shopping into bags? Blimey!
The fun bus turned up at 11. I know it was not going to be a standard mini-coach ...

Unfortunately I had to work Sunday after the party. Luckily it was at 3pm.. based on the way I felt.. It would have been nice if it was 6pm instead.
Today however I did not have to work. I know A DAY OFF DURING HARVEST!... Not something I'm used to.. but what can I say.. Californians are whiners.. HA.
I had a great day ...
... Jeff especially liked the Pinot Noir and I loved the Italian varietal. But we also liked Preston, with its fresh bread & fruit & jug wine. I preferred Preston's bottled wine -- Barbarina -- Jeff liked the Sunday jug wine.We bottle the Barbarina. We enjoyed the like Sonoma wineries because they weren't too corporate or crowded. Everyone keeps telling us to brace for snobbery tomorrow in Napa. We''ll see. We also ate at an incredible restaurant -- Tra Vigne in St. Helena.
Healdsburg, California, United States kimberkoz... that interested. I expected it to be a little like Robbin Island, but as the people who were there were actually 'bad people' it was not quite the same - I can say that I have been though!!!!! 19th August Met Mark and Peter this morning and had a complete tour of SF! We began with coffee on Chestnut Street and after collecting my stuff from the hostel continued the tour. We drove to the Castro, where we had lunch, and up to Twin Peaks. This is supposed to have one of the best ...
