... not.

After the respective camping and running are over, we'll meet in Los Angeles to celebrate my 30th birthday before catching our flight from LAX to Bangkok.

Currently we're both recuperating from all of the dang shots we had to get for the trip, doing last minute research, attempting to fit all our stuff in small packs and wondering if JD's passport has enough room for visas and entry stamps. More to come...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States jenandjd... lots of golf carts on the prowl.

Sunday, Karen and Pam had to leave and we only worked in a little chatter to entertain Tom. However, Pam was off to Memphis so we had a another shot. Travis would be added into the group so we could achieve new heights of pedantic discussions. Tom was excited.

It was really wonderful to meet Joe, Lisa Ann, Karen and Pam. Finding folks who love their birds as much as I do is ...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States patgowerJuly 18-Off to see Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace

Thursday, no one else was here yet so we decided to go to see Lincoln’s birthplace near Hodgenville. We drove south and went through Central City—home of the Everly Brothers! and picked up a parkway east. From there we took what Tom said was a scenic bypass by the map. It was NARROW and twisty and went through several very little towns. It was not ...
Owensboro, Kentucky, United States patgower... Inn-guests tandem bicycles and took off across town to walk the Harmonist labyrinth. On the way we marveled at the gardens: huge extravagant peonies in many gardens, roses everywhere, vegetables growing beside almost every house. This afternoon we'll walk the Cathedral labyrinth and I plan to spend some more time in the Roofless Church (called so because the sky is overhead). Photos of that later.
New Harmony, Indiana, United States janemhWe been moving along to get home and it is a long way. So I'm going to post where we spend the night and then the next day it's off on the next leg. Were on our way to North Carolina and then to Florida. Sorry no pictures. Ray and Christa
Henderson, Kentucky, United States rayandchristaThe Jeep travels slow over the mountains but we eventually found our way out the other end. West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana were the states we headed through today. We beat the sunset into Louisville (Mom "Di's" hometown) and got a chance to see the paddleboats on the Ohio River. We are looking ...
Evansville, Indiana, United States rurucruWe reluctantly left this great hospitality at nine this morning (the other cyclists had left at 5:30 to do the same distance). Another good days progress was made and, to the horror of Hodge and Tom, we spent the night at a camp site at Rough River. More swimming in the river and a lazy afternoon in sun was enjoyed by all ...

Sebree, Kentucky, United States eyeride... of gold looks like. Fort Knox is actually a town about 15 miles from Elizabethtown. Just outside the town is a small vault (with possibly huge basements!) surrounded by military area. Accidentally we drove into the military restricted zone, but after a nice and short conversation we were told how to leave. We did not manage to take any pictures, but we have some video footage. We are going to post it with this note after we will be back to Ireland. We left Fort Knox area ...
Evansville, Indiana, United States lenarcik... was HOT), we made our way into Utah. The northeast corner of Utah shares Dinosaur National Monument with Colorado. So we camped out in Utah that night, and the next morning went for a bit of a hike, saw some dino bones, a bunch of lizards, and jack rabbits. From there it was making our way east, over mountains to Rocky Mountain National Park. Camped there for the night. I had hoped my feet would be much recovered, at least to get on a pair of ...
