    ... day's events because of the heavy rain but we still walked around this pleasant town. There was one apple fritter booth open and people were lined up waiting to purchase these fritters. We didn’t stand in line but we did go to Roger’s Apple Orchard Market and bought some apples along with some apple fritter donuts.

    The next morning, Sunday, was beautiful so we drove the 30 minutes to Southington to attend the day’s Apple Festival events. ...

    It's pronounced "New MAD-rid" not “New Muh-DRID”, by the way. I found that out when we stopped by the local grocery store to find out if they had a laundromat in town. “In New MAD-rid? Ohhhh no, we do not. We used to have two, but the owner up and sold them a couple of years back. Your best bet is Sikeston.” Sigh…Sikeston is 18 miles away in the same direction we just came from.
